I was bow hunting the Crane-song Woods somewhere in Crex Meadows Wildlife Area last week and this happened… there were a few hundred Sandhill Cranes in the large group that flew past. They were returning from their daytime feeding grounds (cornfields outside Grantsburg, WI) to the wildlife area for the evening to roost in the sedge marsh less than a mile north of where I sat.
