Several years ago (2008) I experimented with a batch of cookies that combined the Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe with the Quaker Oats oatmeal raisin cookie recipe but added a few other ingredients. The results were amazing. These cookies have been requested for many events I’ve cooked for, and I recently made a batch for my family and for my daughter’s best friend’s birthday. Here is the recipe. Enjoy! This recipe is a “double batch” making about 6 dozen cookies.
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 3 cups oats
- 1/2 pkg. milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 pkg. dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 pkg. heath bits
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 cup raisins
Cream butter, shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs, salt, soda, vanilla and cinnamon. Stir in flour, then oats and remaining ingredients. Drop spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets, bake in preheated 350 degree oven 9-10 minutes. Remove from pan to cool (I use brown paper bags, it soaks up some of the grease).
Betcha can’t eat just one!
