Folle Avoine Fur Trade Rendezvous

We camped at the Great Folle Avoine Fur Trade Rendezvous this weekend. I participated in several shooting competitions with my percussion cap muzzleloader; didn’t do that well but I had a load of fun and my shooting improved over time. I took second place in the Women’s Hawk Walk, which consisted of ten throws at ten different targets with a tomahawk.

The days were filled competitions, swimming in the river, shopping for camp gear in Traders Row, visiting with old friends, and making new ones. The nights were filled with music by the firelight, stargazing and falling asleep to the sound of owls hooting from the pine trees and loons calling across the water.

Time went far too fast, and we had to bug out early today because of another mega-rainstorm, but I am glad I went, had an amazing time, and can’t wait until the next one!

One of the greatest things about the Rendezvous family is that they take care of each other! My good friends Keevin and Leny worked together to help me get my canvas set up right proper!

The kids never get bored at Rendezvous!
